News Feed Component

News Feed keeps one focused part of your Website updated with cited summaries. It checks the sources you choose, compares new evidence with the last accepted edition, and publishes only when the configured evidence and Review rules are met. It is a Website Component, not a Job.

Set up News Feed

  1. Open Websites, choose the Website, and open News Feed.
  2. Describe one clear topic or focus. A narrow topic produces more useful and more reliably matched evidence than a broad request such as “world news.”
  3. Paste one or more website or direct RSS/Atom links. For a website link, TROPIKAL detects its published feed when available. Use Language and source rules only when you need exclusions or an official source rule.
  4. Choose how often to check: 5, 15, or 30 minutes; 1, 12, or 24 hours; or a custom interval from 5 minutes to 24 hours.
  5. Choose Ticker, Feed, or Briefing.
  6. Choose Manual review or Eligible automatic publication.
  7. Select Test sources. Each row reports whether a direct feed or a website feed was found, along with a safe recovery message when it cannot be used.
  8. Review the responsive output preview and activate. Initial research is queued safely.

The interval controls how often TROPIKAL checks; it does not promise that a source will publish new evidence at that rate, and no new report is created when the evidence has not materially changed. The component says Checked and As of instead of “live” unless a future source has an explicit real-time contract. An open ticker checks automatically for a newly published edition. It pauses these checks in a background tab and keeps the last verified edition visible during a temporary connection failure.

Sources and evidence

Every published factual claim links to its supporting sources. Two websites do not count as independent when both repeat the same wire story, press release, article, quotation, or other upstream report. Missing dates, stale evidence, unresolved contradictions, and unsupported claims are withheld.

Evidence labels mean:

  • Confirmed: the configured publication policy has sufficient fresh, claim-level support.
  • Reported or Developing: evidence is attributed but does not meet the Confirmed definition.
  • Disputed: accepted sources conflict.
  • Corrected: a linked edition corrects the previous edition.
  • Retracted: the normal update was withdrawn and a notice remains.

Summaries are AI-assisted and always show their As of time. The label is not a model confidence score.

Manual and automatic publication

Manual mode sends each materially new draft to the shared Review page. The Review item shows the proposed briefing, every claim, its supporting or contradicting passages, source links, freshness, and source independence. Use the Review page to accept or decline; the News page is read-only for human decisions.

Eligible automatic mode still fails closed. It is available only for standard-risk topics when every material claim passes freshness, authority, independence, contradiction, and citation checks. Health, individualized finance, elections, active conflict, public safety, and allegations about people require Review even when automatic publication is selected.

Pause, resume, and freshness

Pause stops new checks. The current verified edition remains available but is marked stale after its freshness window. Turn on schedules the next check. Research now queues one idempotent manual check; repeated clicks do not create duplicate editions.

No material change and insufficient evidence are successful, visible outcomes. They do not replace the last verified edition. Temporary failures retry with a bounded delay. Repeated failures appear as needing attention.

Corrections and retractions

A correction never silently edits a published edition. TROPIKAL creates a linked corrected edition or notice, keeps the original in the audit history, and sends judgment to Review when needed. A retraction removes the edition from normal current-news presentation while retaining a public retraction notice and the internal decision history.

Add the widget

Use the version-pinned News widget snippet from the Component. Choose its target element and display mode. Keep the included <noscript> fallback. The Ticker includes a pause control and automatically stops moving for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
